President's Perspective - September 2008
Greetings Valley Coastal Members,
Thank you for voting me in as President of the Valley Coastal Chapter of ASSE. In thinking about our chapter and goals for this year, some thoughts came to mind – continue with informative meetings, put on a half-day professional development seminar early in 2010, increase member visibility, and increase chapter visibility in our community. Of course, none of this can be done without the support of the rest of the executive committee and the membership at large. On another note, I recently visited a client in the Central Valley, and the first question that was asked of me was “How was your trip?” I had driven, and my response was “uneventful.” To which my client stated “That’s how you loss control people like it – Uneventful.” Well, I thought that makes us seem kind of boring. So I say, let’s create some excitement and enthusiasm by celebrating the “uneventful.” All you safety professionals out there give a cheer and celebrate the fact that the people to whom you are responsible are going home safe and sound to their families everyday. Perhaps we could sponsor the First Annual Safety Professional’s “Uneventful” Day.
So again, thank you, and I wish you another day without “events”!
